Mausoleum "Irgyzbai-ata"

This is one of the most famous and mysterious sites in East Kazakhstan. A museum, a mosque and a library are located on the territory of the complex.

The mausoleum of Yrgyzbai-ata is the burial place of the famous national physician Doskanauly Yrgyzbai (1787-1850). He had wonderful abilities to heal people with herbal infusions and decoctions, was a chiropractor, had the gift of a seer. The healer always knew who was coming to him and with what disease, could make an accurate diagnosis based on the patient’s pulse. Yrgyzbai-ata never took a fee for healing. According to legend, Yrgyzbai-ata cured biya Kunanbai, the father of the great poet Abai.
