AK-BAUIR

One of the most unique cultural monuments of the Rudny Altai is the Ak-Baur tract in the Kalbinsky Mountains. It is located 38 km from the city of Ust-Kamenogorsk, away from the Samara highway between the villages of Sagyr and Besterek.

The Neolithic temple complex, dating from the end of the III millennium BC, got its name from the hill of the same name. The most vivid impressions for everyone who has been there are left by a small grotto, the vault of which is covered with petroglyphs.

It is symbolic that the opening of the “roof” of the grotto resembles a heart. That’s where it is – the “heart of Altai”! The monument includes an ancient observatory with natural landmarks and a number of rock carvings made in red ochre.
