In the wide Sibin valley between the Karajartas Mountain and the Dzungarian Kappa, on a level grassland lie eight small circles (3×4 m) of rounded stones. Big stones – half a ton or more.
The legend says: long ago at Kalmak Kurgan warriors Dzungarian and batyrs of the land of the Kazakh. They argued: who will get this land. The wisest then decided to settle the dispute peacefully, without blood or grievances: Whoever can lift the biggest, heaviest stone, will become the owner of the land. A Kalmyk warrior clutched the stone and could not tear it from the ground.
Then came the mightiest of the mighty; he lifted up the stone, but went to his knees and to the ground, but there was not enough strength. And then the batyr, sitting on a horse, drove up, took and lifted a stone high above his head. And when they saw the strength of his rich woman, the strangers were angry; and one of them struck with the spear a sharp horse straight into the heart. The horse fell like a slaughtered horse, the batyr’s stone fell… When it hit the ground, the stone scattered into eight pieces.
Seeing the strength of the Batyr, the Dzungars turned their horses and rode from a foreign land. And the stones remained in the midst of a wide meadow.
But the legend does not end there. Psychics, as the aksakals tell, see eight batyrs sitting on these stones. They sit against each other, in the hands of each spear. And in the center – a fire and a rook sticks out, the sky supporting. It is said that it is possible to come to the batyrs, sit around and tell about their dream or pain without hiding anything, and they, having conferred among themselves, will judge everything fairly and will certainly help. Simple mortals, as the aksakals say, do not see batyrs with spears, for this you need to look into the eyes of the clairvoyant and there you can only see them – batyrs with spears sitting on stones and burning their fire forever.
