The Legend of Gorny Altai

It was a long time ago. There lived good people in the world – husband and wife. And they had one and only son. His father and mother doted on him, and he revered his parents. But one day trouble came to the family. The young man’s parents fell ill and fell ill.

In search of a cure for their illness, the caring son went to the healer. The healer listened to the guy and said that only one person could help him – an ancient old man who lives in a high mountain cave in the most beautiful place on the planet. The young man set off.

For several months the young man reached the indicated place and finally met the ancient elder. From the guy’s story, the elder realized that his parents had contracted swamp fever, or, in other words, malaria. The elder prepared a potion for the guy from various herbs and roots that grow only on the high mountain slopes of our region. This drug not only put the young man’s parents back on their feet, but also helped cope with the malaria epidemic in their village. Since then, the unique natural pharmacy of Eastern Kazakhstan began to be called Mountain Altai, which translated from Turkic means “Golden Mountains”.
