It is said that previously there were no venomous snakes in Altai, but now the muzzle is found here quite often.
There were only men living in one camp, because the leader of this tribe hated women. But life took its toll, and young men fell in love with beauties from neighboring villages and wanted to marry them.
The khan was smart enough, and he did not want to cause discontent among his batyrs, and therefore set a fair condition for them: a young man can marry a girl only if he manages to climb with the bride in his arms to the top of a high mountain. But if the groom could not bring his beloved to the top and lowered her to the ground, then she turned into a snake.
Many young men tried to conquer the top of an impregnable mountain with a bride in their arms, but the path was very difficult, and no one was able to fulfill the khan’s condition, many girls turned into snakes to the delight of the evil khan.
But one day a poor shepherd fell in love with a beautiful girl, and she reciprocated him. A young couple came to the khan with a request to allow them to get married. The cruel leader did not mind if they fulfilled his condition. The shepherd picked up his bride in his arms, began to climb to the top, and the khan did not take his eyes off them, carefully watching how he was trying to achieve his goal. The way up the mountain is difficult, the young man is already losing his last strength. His bride is about to touch the ground and turn into a snake, which are visible and invisible around. But the girl began to help her fiance. Imperceptibly, so as not to be seen by the merciless leader, she began to push off the ground with her hand, then with her foot. So little by little they moved forward.
And now the happy lovers are standing at the top. And the evil khan, overcome with anger, turned himself into a poisonous snake — a muzzle.
