Giantess’s spinning wheel

By word of mouth » Giantess’s spinning wheel
In the Tarbagatay mountains, on the southern side of Mount Kalba there is a bright valley called Sardala – Red Steppe. In the middle of this steppe there is a lonely high mountain. And on the top of the mountain lie several large stones, dumped haphazardly. People say that these stones have been lying there since the time when shamans lived in this area and started their rituals here. And the following legend is told about the origin of the lonely mountain. One giantess-woman was herding several goats in the Tarbagatay mountains. She spun yarn from the wool of these goats. This woman was very big. When she sat on Mount Tarbagatay itself, her legs reached Small Tarbagatay. This giantess was sitting and spinning her yarn, tending goats, and suddenly she saw: one of her favorite goats was dragged away by a wolf. In annoyance, the woman threw at the fleeing wolf what she had in her hands – a spinning wheel, and this spinning wheel flew to the Red Steppe, fell there and turned into a mountain.
