The Legend of Aqberli Pass

By Word Of Mouth » The Legend of Aqberli Pass

Long ago, at the foot of the Tarbagatai Mountains, there lived a warrior woman Aqberli. She was exceptionally brave and fair, yet she never boasted of her valor or sought renown. One day, word spread among the people that an enemy force was approaching, threatening to disturb their peace. It became clear that a large group of invaders was nearby.

Determined to protect her homeland, Aqberli devised a plan to deceive the enemy and lure them through the mountain pass into a cleverly set trap. Because she knew the mountains’ ridges and deep gorges so well, she misled the invaders into the narrowest part of the pass. The marching troops lost their way as Aqberli led them toward lofty peaks and across steep, river-strewn terrain, where they ultimately became ensnared.

Thanks to Aqberli’s resourcefulness and courage, the invasion was foiled and peace was restored. From that day forward, her name became immortalized in history and her heroic deed continued to garner respect.

According to legend, Aqberli Pass is recognized as the place that represents her bravery. All who traverse it are reminded of Aqberli’s valor and cleverness, feeling the spirit of her eagle-like courage.

Tied to the rugged paths of the Tarbagatai region, Aqberli Pass is regarded –both by the tale and by local tradition—not only as a remarkable natural site but also as a symbol of human spirit and resilience.
